Medcura's Planning Tools
Utilizing the five goals listed, Medcura has developed planning tools that will help to position your organization for the difficult times ahead. Below are some of the tools that can be used to help:
1. PLA - Patient Lens Assessment - This assessment tool looks at how patients interact with your organization by identifying how effectively you communicate with patients and whether your processes make the patient journey easier or more frustrating for patietns and their families. Often there are simple fixes that can make your processes more friendly and effective.
2. Our New World – Environmental assessments are key to effective planning. Medcura seeks to take the environmental scan and move it to a future state to ensure the organization sets priorities based upon likely future challenges.
3. Seig Planning Matrix– This planning matrix provides a comprehensive plan that looks at the full range of services in your community and identifies service gaps, unmet patient needs and possible cooperation and integration opportunities.
4. The Competition - Collaboration Continuum – Organizations need to find ways to work with one another. Working together can be seen as a continuum with organizations openly competing with one another at one end to collaborating and combining (merging) on the other end of the continuum. It is important to know where your organization sits on the continuum as it will dictate your success in integrating services and working with other providers.
5. Numbers Don’t Lie – A financial review is often enlightening and can challenge us to find other ways of providing services in a more efficient way. Sister Sharon Ford, the CEO of the Catholic Health Initiatives, (a $4 billion health system) was guided by – “No Margin – No Mission” – She believed that “No matter how noble the mission, it cannot be achieved without balancing the books”
